Carroll: Shaquem Griffin having ‘very good offseason’

Shaquem Griffin was relegated into a special teams role in his first season. Coach Pete Carroll would like to alter that in 2019.
The linebacker played only eight snaps per second Gen Stats, in the final 15 regular season matches. Carroll wants to use Griffin’s rate more this year as a pass rusher — a position of need in Seattle.
Throughout offseason workouts, Carroll has moved Griffin around, placing him at weakside linebacker in nickel packages and strongside in base places, from which he can rush the passer.

“It’s been really a fantastic deal for him,” Carroll said, via the group’s official site. “We see how much background he’s on the edge. He has played outside linebacker for the most part in his profession. He’s just more comfortable on the market. That doesn’t mean that he can not perform behind the line of scrimmage. He has gained a lot , but you can view him on the border, in distance and coming off the edge and pressures and things like thatit’s a fantastic place for him. So he’s had a very, very great offseason with us.”
Griffin becoming more comfortable is part of the process going to sophomore. As can his impact on Seattle’s defense, that comfort level should increase.
Griffin has become an inspiration to many. His story will only grow if he turns in an every-game playmaker on defense.
