Tammy Abraham deserves his great week, says Frank Lampard

By scoring his Premier League goal of the season in Chelseas 4-1 triumph over Southampton on Super Sunday following the striker followed up his England call-up frank Lampard paid tribute to Tammy Abraham.
Abraham, that also netted from the Champions League win over Lille on Wednesday, opened the scoring in St Marys Stadium after he rallied on Callum Hudson-Odois pass and poked a looping finish over Angus Gunn which fell over the line until Maya Yoshida could make a clearance.
The goal assisted Chelsea in their way to a comfortable victory that moved them up to fifth in the Premier League table. It was a sign of Abraham optimism, which Lampard puts down to his hard work and decision behind the scenes.
You talk about if people are in good form, things happen for these or they typically possess moments, said Lampard in his post-match press conference.
For me, that comes from how Tammy has handled himself all season from the early minutes of jelqing as well as the beginning of the season when people were questioning him in various ways.
It is the work ethic behind the scenes that gets him into such good nick. Hes not an handful for defenders – hes running them, hes holding the ball up, he is controlling it, he has great feet – he is also getting his goals, which will be brilliant for him.
I trusted at Tammy in the start of the season. I believed it was his time. I understand people will talk about the situation [of the move ban], however he also has Olivier Giroud, who is a World Cup winner, and [Michy] Batshuayi whos a Premier League striker in my view.
Hes made the position his own in the short term now. He has to keep that going since competition is essential and within the span of the season well need everyone.
But he has deserved the great week hes had. He has deserved the wonderful beginning to the season he has had and that I will continue himbecause I want more.
Abraham was substituted having taken a knock at the final stages, but Lampard allayed any harm fears ahead of Englands upcoming Qualifiers from Czech Republic and Bulgaria, instead joking that the academy graduate was seeking recognition in the fans.
Hes fine, said Lampard. He took a bang on the back of the knee, but I think he needed a form of applause.
This was another fine day for Chelseas young players, together using Mason Mount and involved in the aims, but Lampard praise was reserved for the Willian, who led by example with and without the ball.
He had been a standout for me, said Lampard. His work ethic off the chunk. If we speak regarding what we want from them, to this wingers, well show them that video of what Willian did. His caliber and burst to the ball of speed. The last four or five games he has been our best player.
